What is Field Hospital?

field hospital is a small mobile medical unit, or mini hospital, that temporarily takes care of casualties on-site before they can be safely transported to more permanent facilities. Field hospital is often used in military situations, but may also be used in times of disaster, as well as with traditional military medicine.

A field hospital is a medical staff with a mobile medical kit and, often, a wide tent-like shelter (at times an inflatable structure in modern usage) so that it can be readily set up near the source of casualties. In an urban environment, the field hospital is often established in an easily accessible and highly visible building (such as a manor house, restaurant, school, and so on). In the case of an airborne structure, the mobile medical kit is often placed in a normalized container; the container itself is then used as shelter. A field hospital is generally larger than a temporary aid station but smaller than a permanent military hospital.

Workers erect a temorpary field hospital for use by people unable to isolate and recover from COVID-19 in their own homes on a soccer field in Seattle suburb of Shoreline, Wash. The field hospital will provide up to 200 beds.

Coronavirus Field Hospitals Are Setting Up

Coronavirus pandemic piles pressure on America’ health system. There is urgent need infast deployable field hospital.

Many cities are setting up field hospital as part of the state’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. This plan to sort of relieve the pressure within hospitals of patients that don’t need ventilation. This seems the only option to quickly ease the shortage of surge bed. They can be set up in one or two days due to the modular design.

A similar 250-bed field hospital is set up at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport in Miam. To help North Jersey hospitals deal with an expected surge in coronavirus patients, the state is working shortly on a temporary field hospital at the Meadowlands Convention Center in Secaucus, a facility that should take no more than a week to be ready for patients. Field hospital also being set up at Baltimore Convention Center with 250 beds made available to serve patients who are sick but not in need of critical care.
