From the design stage, we manage strict processes, including but not limited to general solution design, structural design, detailed segments design, design output and feedback, design modification, then to final output. Only by carefully managing the details at every step from the outset can we craft high-quality products.
Let’s now explore the role and advantages of Shelter Structures’ products in the industrial sector.
The primary material composition of Shelter Structures’ buildings
What are the primary materials used in Shelter Structures’ industrial shelters? At the core of Shelter Structures’ industrial shelters is the utilization of anodized hard pressed extruded aluminum alloy as the structural frame, specifically 6061-T6 aluminum. Aluminum alloy, being lighter than steel under the same unit, has the premium feature of lightweight construction. Moreover, aluminum is 100% recyclable, ensuring that this material can be reused indefinitely without compromising its quality.
In the case of 6061-T6, the “6061” represents the alloy’s specific chemical composition, while the “T6” indicates the tempering process applied to the aluminum alloy, involving solution heat treatment and artificial aging. This treatment imparts the alloy with high strength and durability.
Thanks to its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance, this grade of aluminum alloy ensures the structural integrity of the shelters, making them resilient against various environmental challenges. The anodized finish further enhances durability, extending the lifespan to over 20 years.
Besides the frame structure, Shelter Structures’ industrial buildings use PVC fabric for roofing, with a weight of 850g per square meter, referred to as 850g/sqm. Our PVC fabrics comply with rigorous M2 standard anti-flame regulations. The M2 standard is a widely recognized European standard for fire safety, indicating that our PVC fabric has undergone thorough testing to meet specific fire resistance criteria.
Shelter Structures holds numerous test certifications for PVC fabric use, ensuring a secure environment for industrial operations. With options for blackout, translucent, and fully transparent PVC fabric roofing, our structures showcase versatility. For instance, translucent PVC fabric roofing is commonly used to allow natural light penetration during the day, promoting energy savings and a brighter environment for major industrial operations.
In addition to its high tensile strength design, extra water-resistant gap fabric covers serve as supporting facilities, maintaining roof panels in tension to withstand heavy snow, wind, and rain. This design effectively prevents leakage on rainy days.
Shelter Structures’ product series for industrial use
We have diverse product series in our category, different series are fit for different applications. Although from the structural design, some identical series of shelters can be used in different applications. However, details and supporting elements will determine their outlook and versatility.
The classic A frame buildings - M/L Series
frame fabric buildings, also known as peaked roof buildings, are commonly utilized in industrial storage, agricultural storage, and workshops. The term “A-frame” reflects the simplicity of the structures, with the roof taking on the shape of an A. The key advantages lie in their quick installation and cost-effectiveness.
At Shelter Structures, our expertise lies in prefabricated modular buildings, where all columns and bars are prefabricated and connected using carbon steel connection plates, stud bolts, and built-in components. With this prefabrication approach, there is no need for welding or onsite fabrication work, as all necessary fabrication works are done before assembly. This results in more rapid erection and reduced costs. Additionally, our A-frame fabric buildings feature straight bars and columns, seldom curved elements, which optimizes the cost for international transportation.
Saying of the sizes of Shelter Structures’ M/L series, the M series spans widths up to 30m, while the L series extends up to 60m. Different aluminum profiles are employed, and industrial applications may vary slightly. Customization is available for sizes and amenities. The standard roof pitch is 18 degrees, offering excellent rain load and bearing capacity benefits, and can be further tailored to meet specific requirements.
The innovative and aesthetic structures - Shelter Structures’ TFS series
The TFS series represents “tensioned fabric structures” that employ a specialized tensile fabric membrane to establish enclosed spaces. These structures typically feature a lightweight, robust fabric membrane stretched and tensioned over a structural framework, creating a covered space. TFS is internationally recognized for its unique shape, ensuring ample internal space, particularly in terms of vertical space, and enhanced snow load capacity due to the roof shape. The primary advantages of this structure lie in its versatility for industrial applications and its aesthetic appeal.
The use of our TFS extends beyond industrial purposes such as warehouses, storage, and large machinery storage. It proves effective for applications like aircraft hangars and operational needs in remote areas. At Shelter Structures, we can design the TFS as clearspan structures, eliminating the need for internal columns and providing a wider and more open internal space. The width of our TFS ranges from 15 to 60m, with unlimited length according to specific requirements. On average, the aluminum profiles are larger than our M/L series, starting from 112x203mm. Under severe weather conditions, our profiles can reach up to 120x400mm to ensure the structures’ durability.
Shelter Structures’ Arch series
In numerous industrial settings, arch series structures are commonly employed in mining, refinery storage, and heavy industrial operations. They are a familiar sight and have gained popularity, especially in North America, where many are constructed using steel with truss elements. At Shelter Structures, we also frequently utilize the Arch Series, but with a distinct approach—rather than employing steel structures like traditional container arch structures, ours are constructed with premium aluminum alloy to adapt to a broader range of industrial scenarios. It’s worth noting that our Arch Series can seamlessly connect to containers, offering an ideal setup for workshops or shelters.
The primary advantage of our Arch Structures lies in their durability. The curved design enables these structures to evenly distribute weight along the curve, effectively transferring loads to the supports at each end. Furthermore, they offer a broader width range, spanning from 10m to 60m, allowing for a fully clear span. Similar to steel structures, our Arch Structures can incorporate truss elements to reinforce the entire framework. Additionally, various sidewall packages are available, including steel walls, ABS walls, and fabric walls.
The DP Series (Polygon)
Shelter Structures’ DP Series indicates the structures with polygonal roofs, which offers a unique blend of aesthetics and versatility suitable for diverse industrial applications. This design provides ample vertical space, which is ideal for storing and operating large equipment, including aircraft, drones, large vehicles and more.
The applications of DP Series are also wide, such as temporary warehousing, manufacturing facilities, logistics and distribution centers, industrial workshops, and more. It has the span range from 15 to 60m, the roof pitch angle varies from 33 to 11 degrees, that is observed from the connection of eave columns to the ridge. The DP series is commonly employed for temporary and semi-permanent needs, and this fabric series serves various industrial purposes.
Conclusion
Shelter Structures is the global leader in manufacturing and supplying shelters/ tents/ buildings for diverse applications. We dedicate in high-quality products and solutions as well for industrial use internationally. As the market continues to evolve, our products, techniques, engineering, and designing, from all aspect, are keeping innovating, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and satisfaction of our clients in the dynamic landscape of the industrial sector.
