Industrial warehouse tents are known as temporary/ semi-permanent warehouse buildings, and/ or industrial tents. The frame material has been evolved from steel structures to aluminum structures. These prefab warehouse buildings usually composed of rafters, purlins, gable columns, side wall columns, bracings and other components in terms of the frame.

What is turnkey solution for industrial warehouse tents?
As well as the frame, in order to achieve the functionality of on-site warehouse storage and also to achieve customers’ additional requirements, in short, turnkey solution represents a comprehensive warehouse solution that seamlessly caters to local conditions, on-site terrain, and commodity condition requirements, from frame structures, PVC covers, side wall type as well as to conjunction accessories parts, including everything from structural framework to internal and external components.
Types of Temporary/ Semi-permanent Warehouses

The primary function of the warehouses is to store goods, so clearspan structures are mostly often seen. For the purpose to meet the different height of the goods and achieve utmost space utilization, most common types are A-shape (Shelter Structures’ M & L series), Polygonale (Shelter Structures’ DP series), TFS (Shelter Structures’ TFS series).

Empowering the Mining Industry
It’s undeniable that warehouse & storage play a crucial role for the whole supply chain of the mining industry, of which the demands are frequently intricate and distinct. The primary element of warehousing in mining industry is to stock and providing space for certain operations, which specifically can be sorted as protecting surge piles, bulk storage, parking with protection of mining trucks, sorting operations and transfer centers from severe weathers.
There is the common sense that mining fields or quarries normally are located in remote areas, and it has an obstacle of “time wasting” , for example, if frequently transiting from extraction sites to mineral processing warehouses. That’s why prefab industrial warehouse tents, which also known as temporary warehouse tents/ onsite warehouse buildings, have become a trending in onsite industrial operations.
Thanks to the numerous advantages of prefab industrial warehouse tents, such as rapid & easy installation, flexibility in mobility, durability, cost-effectiveness, sustainability, these types of modular buildings are utilized more often in industrial area, especially mining industry; and they have the increasing trends to replace traditional wooden and concrete structures in terms of onsite operation.
Why temporary warehouse tents are trending and needed in mining industry?
For mining projects, one of the most important aspects is the tight deadline. Most structures of the temporary/ semi-permanent warehouse tents are of the rapid assembly feature. Like Shelter Structures, the installation period is shorter and more convenient which leads to the time and investment costs significantly reduced.
As the investigation from our mining projects, we notice that the most frequent moments that those clients approached us are:
- As the busy season ramps up.
- When worksites get cluttered and disorganized.
- During seasons or times of the year with intense weather.
Mining companies are also facing the fact that they need to often relocate, normally to remote quarries. Prefab industrial warehouse tents are easy to transport from one site to another with minimal effort. Especially with aluminum structure buildings, they are light weight which are lighter than steel structure if in the same range.
Durability is another key element of prefab warehouse tents. Many remote mining sites have inclement weather conditions, heavy wind, rain and even snow that could put mined commodities and equipment in risk. It requires strong and durable warehousing solutions that can withstand extremes of temperature, humidity, and even natural disasters. That’s why using appropriate customized and reinforced profiles with the suitable and durable frame structures is important, but also the adapted comprehensive solutions determine the versatility and durability.
One of the main benefits of this kind of temporary buildings is their affordability. Traditional concrete warehouses are several times costly than the prefab temporary warehouse tents. They are also more energy-efficient, which can save money on utilities costs over time. Another challenge is that many construction companies and mining companies required to double-staff in order to receive shipments onsite, temporary warehouse tents effectively solve the issue. By fast distribution and circulation of the mined commodities, it achieves cost-effective from another perspective.
Why clearspan structures are most often utilized in mining operation sites?
Generally speaking, in mining operation sites, we need the following buildings:
- Command centers
- Staff-related facilities (training facilities, dining facilities, camp housing etc.)
- Garages
- Maintenance facilities
- Storage warehouses
- Workshops

Most common structure type is clearspan structure. Clear Span is a type of structure that indicates an open storage area without any structural supports.
There are no internal columns or cross-support beams that would obstruct the movement or positioning of equipment within the structure. The side walls of the building normally could be raised, achieving increased storage height and optimizing the interior width and height for storage or operational layout designs. This contribute to provide more effective and additional space for interior usage scenarios.
In mining industry, storage warehouses can be for mining equipment, conveyors, buckets, buckets elevator, stackers, reclaimers etc., which requires safe and clutter-free environment, protecting the mining worksite supplies from theft, damage and loss.
Mined materials are also vulnerable. Minerals, soils, salt, ores, coal, gemstones, they need dry and safe space to be stored. As well as the various types of forklifts and operation vehicles, sometimes they need higher upper space to be parked.
There were an project which Shelter Structures co-operated with one of a local mining company in Chile. The weather was harsh in that area with heavy snow. The client required a 30*50*6m size warehouse, as large vehicles were needed to transport equipment into the warehouse. Eventually we offered the solution of our TFS series warehouse with truss arch. Compared with L series (A-shape) and DP series (Polynale). Under the same length, TFS has the best upper space for storage, in another word, the higher. TFS is commonly seen in mining industry, also can be seen for hangars. In the meantime, the roof pitch is relatively big, which is better to resist big snow load.
