Posts

The design of badminton court net posts aims to ensure the stability of the net and the fairness of the game. The height of the posts typically matches the height of the badminton net to maintain a level and taut net surface. According to the regulations set by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the posts should be at least 1.55 meters (5 feet 1 inch) high at the center of the court, which is the standard height at the net’s midpoint. At the sides of the net, the top of the posts should be slightly lower than the center, approximately 1.524 meters (5 feet).

While there is no strict standard for the diameter or width of the posts, they must be designed to be sturdy enough to support the tension of the net without tilting or wobbling. Generally, the diameter of the posts ranges from 5 centimeters to 10 centimeters (2 to 4 inches), depending on the materials and manufacturing process used. Mark the dimensions of the court: Use string or chalk to mark the length and width of the badminton court on the ground. The dimensions of the singles court are 13.40 meters long and 5.18 meters wide.The dimensions of the doubles court are 13.40 meters long and 6.10 meters wide.

Draw the bottom lines: Draw bottom lines at the end of the long and short sides respectively; these lines are called end lines. The width of the end lines should be 4 centimeters and the outer edges of the lines should be the boundaries of the field.
Draw side lines: Draw side lines on each side of the long and short sides. The sidelines are 0.46 meters from the end lines for singles courts and 0.76 meters from the end lines for doubles courts.

Drawing the Serve Lines: The front and back serve lines for singles and doubles are drawn by measuring from the four vertices of each doubles court into the end lines.
